Do you think you have a $100,000 idea? This Spring, a dozen teams from the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business pitched their best and brightest ideas, vying for the grand prize of nearly $100,000 in cash and in-kind support to launch their start-up.
This was the inaugural Hunter Centre RBC Fast Pitch Competition, and if this year is any indication, Fast Pitch will showcase a wealth of innovation for the 21st century. Our Edacity team had the opportunity to chat with four members (Venus, Stephanie, Carly, and Liya) from one of the competing teams, Eco-LOGic, to find out more about their respective entrepreneurial paths and what it’s like to try and sell an idea to a panel of experts in ten minutes or less.
Eco-LOGic’s vision is to create an environmentally friendly firewood alternative while fostering the connections between friends and family through the creation and warmth of fire. They have developed a series of environmentally friendly firewood products that could replace the use of firewood in industry. They have partnered with camps, homeowners, and others to reduce their carbon footprint.
You can read more from our three interviews in the links above, and read more about Eco-LOGic on their website here.
